Hey guys, I am finally going to be buying a Gaming PC on Christmas. My build will compose of the following parts :

AMD FX-8350 ( CPU )

PowerColor Raedon R9 260x ( GPU )

16GB Ram 4x4 Sticks ; I dont know what speed to buy ( mRam )

750GB-1TB HardDrive ( Storage )

Motherboard - Still looking

EVGA Power Supply 500W ( PSU )

Cooler Master N200 ( Case )

Hey guys, I don't know what motherboard to purchase that supports AMD FX-8350 and my GPU... I need a really cheap one under 65$ or 75$ max...

If you guys can help me by sending my suggestions of good motherboards that supports overclocking my fx-8350 and x2 gpu slots

with on-board wifi ! please help!

( my case has ONE usb 3.0 port so if the motherboard could support that, i'd be happy as well )

This build needs reworking for a gaming PC, can you give us an overall budget?

What this guy said.  It needs more Intel and less RAM  :P

and not a 260x

Give me 3 minutes

also, do you need a monitor/keyboard/mouse/headphones/speakers/wifi adapter?

Hey thanks for the help but um... I kind of wanted a amd processor because they have more cores 6-8 and it is cheaper overall. And yeah.. how is a i3 better than a fx-6300 or a fx-8350? just asking i am a noob.

at this low of a budget, i do like the fx-6300 because of its price/performance

the i3 has way better single core performance, but a 6300 may be preferable at this budget because it has 6 threads and a decent gaming performance

The architecture of the FX CPUs are over 4 years old. Why would you want that? Also they aren't cheaper overall bedtime you factor in a decent motherboard and cooler for the chips because they need some good stuff to overclock? Class starts by.

A i3 is better because although it has less cores it's stronger per core which is more useful in gaming. AMD CPUs have more cores but the core strength is weak making it not a good choice for gaming. No point in having 6/8 cores if they're weak and most games won't use those cores.

CoolerMaster n200 is a micro-atx case, which will limit build size and require a smaller motherboard

Guys I know everyone might say INTEL is stronger/better than AMD but i personally like AMD because it is cheaper , yeah i know you get what you pay for but i mean if i where to get an INTEL cpu it would be at the MINIMUM of an i5 cpu, I hate i3's because they are slow and petty. Yeah i know they better than fx-6300/8350 but i need atleast an i5... My dads laptop had a i5 with 8gb ram and it was slow as hell. Yes i know laptops and desktops have majorly different parts but i mean if thats what i will be getting, I want an amd fx-6300 or i5 ATLEAST.

go with the the build i suggested. i really recommend finding an extra 100 and getting an i5 4440 but otherwise its good

Since the post of this thread, I've gotten litterally 20+ responses, and all of you have different opinions. most of the replies suggest amd processors just because its cheaper and has more cores. Yes i know intel is stronger per core but i'd rather have 4-6 cores over 2 cores. I'm pretty sure 6 cores overrun a 2 core processor even if it is intel.

What i plan on doing is combining all of your guys suggestions/builds and finding the cheapest AMD build for my self. Yes i know i'm going to get alot of hate for being on an amd side but i mean my family is poor. my budget was at 250$ at first. Yes I know there are alot of richer people and will complain but my family is risking this money for me because i'm getting good grades. My family is on the poorer side. We need all the money we could get, and for someone to say dish out 100$ extra its nothing, is quite ignorant... some people don't know wether people are on the poorer or richer side, unforuntately i'm on the poorer side. i simply asked for a PC build under 550 $... Yet i been getting more than that. Thanks. But I wish to stick to AMD because I get more cores for a cheaper price. I had a i5 / 8gb ram laptop BRAND new and after two months it was slow as shit... Thats why I dont want to go with an intel processor when its $100 extra.

I kind of agree with this statement. you could go with the Pentium G2358 and set yourself up for an upgrade path, but it may be better to get the 6300 now and when you upgrade, which you will, getting a new motherboard to move up to an I5 or I7

if you are going wit the fx-6300, this is the build you want:

slap on a 212 EVO for $30 and you can OC like a boss

or go for a smaller motherboard and get the micro atx case you wanted, but go with NVidia at this budget range.

First of don't compare based on laptop experiences, one laptop CPUs are made to be less powerful and lower clock speed for a low heat so the power of a laptop i3 is not the same as a normal i3.Two you're thinking of speed wrong, the speed you feel of a computer has nothing to do with the CPU, the general speed that you feel of a computer is based on the OS and the storage. So i3s aren't 'slow' as clock speed doesn't affect the speed that you feel and i3s aren't even slow clock speeds anyway. Look at the link I posted AMD is not cheaper. A i3 is better than a FX 6300 easily.

on a single core performance: yes, easily

but games are going multi-threaded, and i know for a fact that this CPU can run GTA V at max settings, and other games at medium-high settings with good fps. now an i5 versus a fx 83x0, i5 all the way, but in this scenario, with a build that is not focused on single threaded performance, the 6300 is the better choice
