So I've been thinking about this for a while, and yesterday's NCIX cemented it for me I believe.

I want to take a raspberry pi and screen (haven't decided on correct size) and I want to attach it to my 5.25" bays.

I don't use them for anything at the moment, and how cool would it be to have a fan controller, gpu/cpu monitor, and/or led controller with a touch screen that's completely customize-able.

Thoughts?

-update one-

The raspery pi has 40 pin extended gpio, and usb inputs.

What I'm looking into now is this.

I'd like to run the corsair mini commander off of it, as it would give me access to temperature moniotring, fans, and led controll.

I believe I'm going to use Windows IoT as an OS.

If anyone sees any glaring issues with this please feel free to point it out lol

That'd be pretty badass, I've thought about something similar, but getting an Ipad to be like the thermostat and display cool stats about the house, like electricity usage in kWh etc and mounting it to a wall

I'm still just kind of spitballing at the moment, though I see no reason it shouldn't work lol

I'm due to be off work within the next thirty mins, I'll research more into what connector it has and what my options could be.

Really the coolest thing in my mind would be having MSI afterburner on it, showing up as the cyborg skin, what each gpu temp is, and what speed its running at.

I really like your idea! Go for it if you can.

Thanks!

It really wouldn't be that expensive to do, last I checked the b+ 2 and screen were like sixty bucks.

So maybe a hundred dollars after random pieces to mount, and to replace whatever I break lol

Will definitely keep posting ideas, and findings. Pay day is Friday, so I'll order then so I can play around with it

No it's not that expensive and very worth it if you can manage to do it. I'd like to see it if you finish it :)

what i found really interesting and even had a first look at is windows iot for raspberry.

so ill be trying to use that so i can easily remote watch how its behaving

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"

I just googled windows iot, this looks exactly like what I was looking for!
Thank you @cluelessgenius

Just a heads up to anyone that may be excited by this, my craftsmanship is shoddy at best. Don't expect Wan worthy mod lol
