Does naming bothers you sometimes ?

Thony

Nvidia has been going up by hundreds for several years now (200,300,400-900). I got used to it, its simple to follow, i like it.

But next year they are releasing new line of GPUs (Pascal architecture).

Would name like GTX 1080ti bug your mind ?

For me it doesnt look nice nor sound nice. But maybe its just me.

On the other hand i would hate if they did what AMD did (from HD 7990 to R9 290)

No it wouldn't. Actually they might make a GTX 990? Kindda like a dual GPU to compete with AMD r9 395 or whatever powercooler was releasing. Then they might make a new series other then the GTX. We all know them has the GT and GTX series so why not make a new one? Start over.

1080ti sounds really cool if you pronounce "ti" like "tie" the word. Like Logan does.

Nvidia's naming schemes are one of the only ones that make any sense to me. Other things, like Intel processors (AMD's are a little easier to understand), or laptop model names are horrible to remember imo.  All those extra letters and numbers just kill me.

Doesn't matter to me, getting the naming is easy once you find the pattern.

Really? It's reverse for me, where Intel is crazy easy to make sense (since they explicitly disclosed the naming formula on their site), while AMD is all over the place with Phenoms, Athlons, etc. Beyond the FX, later Athlons, and A-series CPUs, I'm lost.

Doesn't matter when Intel CPU's sell like hotcakes.

Meh. I'm looking for performance not a name. As long as it doesn't look like a screwed up menu on some shady alley food vendor, I'm ok.
