Will a 144hz monitor run fine w/ my GPU?

Paul N

I mainly want a 144hz monitor for CS:GO. My GPU is a 650ti I get around 260 frames (lowest settings) the least amount of frames i get would probably be 140 fps. Is buying a 144hz ok for me?

It might be fine but I recommend a GTX 960 or 970.

Yeah, but tbh I only play CS:GO lol. I play other games, but I don't mind running 60hz on other games.

Well sure, if you mostly play cs:go and don't mind dialing back settings for other games to get ~60fps then you should be alright.

Well if you go from 60hz to 144hz that's like a um.... 140% increase in the amount of information your eyes are taking in! Woooooo!!! jks

I've never played on a 144hz monitor myself, but i can imagine it's like watching a stick of butter slide on a hot frying pan

well... my GT640 can push cs:go beyond 144fps, so i'm sure a 650ti wont be an issue.

You wont have 144fps with maxed out settings but when u compromise a little you get it easily.

So yes, your card can handle 144Hz monitor.

There's also a few launch options and autoexec commands you can use to improve fps. I use these, and it definitely helps. I went from about 120ish fluxtuating, to about 270 Constant :)

Launch Options:

-freq 144 -lv -high -threads 4 -novid

Autoexec.cfg:

r_dynamic 0
fps_max 0
mat_queue_mode 2
