how does do tower reservoirs work?

Go to solution Solved by QueenDemetria,

can you please explain that a little better (i'm  new to water cooling and don't understand what you mean).

You can use this reservoir in two ways:

  1. With the single port on top and the three ports on the bottom. With this the top port is for filling your reservoir/system, then one of the bottom ports connects to your pump (which cycles the through waterblocks and radiators), then the water returns to the reservoir with another port. Since you have one port left with this setup, you will have to use a plug and if you need to drain your system, you can just undo the plug.
  2. With the single port on the bottom and the three ports on top. With this the bottom port is strictly for the pump, which then cycles through all of your components(waterblocks/radiators) and then the water returns into one of the top ports. The other two can be used for filling your system(although you only need one). If you ever have to drain your system, you have to remove a hose somewhere in your system or plan a drain somewhere.

I prefer #1, as it makes the most sense from an engineering standpoint. It doesn't matter what water level you need(as long as its not empty), and all of the ports are used in a useful way(you have a way of filling your system, draining it, and it does its job of cycling the water). With #2, you have to make sure the water level is pretty high or else you get a "water fall" and this makes noise and creates bubbles, and there is no drain port(unless if you add one) so you have two ways of filling it and no(obvious) ways of draining it.

hi all

I am getting the BitsPower water tank Z-mulit 150 reservoir and am wondering how all the tubing plugs into it. There are two holes at the bottom and one at the top. I assume that the liquid that has been cooled by the radiator flows in through the top and then gets pumped out the bottom by the pump. But then why are there two holes at the bottom instead of one? is this so you can have two pumps? Please help.

The top hole is for filling your reservoir, while the two bottom holes are the send and return ports.

most reservoirs have multiple ports up top for closing/returning loops.

You can use the top port to either fill the reservoir or use it as a return for the water. The bottom ones are used for the pump, the water needs to be gravity fed to the pump so you can't have the top port for the pump.
