So I'm upgrading my rig, and the new system is going to require about 303 watts, and my power supply is only 300 watts. I could upgrade the psu, but I wanted to know if it is 100% necessary. I have an intel i5 2400 3.1 GHz, GTX 660 EVGA superclocked edition (I can get a different 660 if necessary), 8GB DDR3, SATA 7200 rpm hard drive, multi-media optical drive

Your going to max out that PSU and if it's a bad OEM one it's not going to be good, you'll need something like a 450W watt PSU to give you a fair bit of overhead.

Definitely upgrade the PSU. If the system is going to require 303W, get a 500W power supply or more. Chances are, the 300W you have now can't deliver a full 300 watts anyway.

Does anyone have any suggested 500 watt PSU models?

A decent 430w would already be plenty. Any reason why you'd want 500w?

If you would like some recommendations, it would help to link us to where you're shopping/located.
