Hello, long time subscriber to LTT youtube channel here. I am pulling the trigger on this build in the net day or two and just wanted to double check with you guys if anything looks out of place or completely unnecessary. This will be used for video editing (vegas, adobe) as well as playing awesome games while streaming in the highest quality I can get away with. I want a relatively small PC for portability which is one of my main goals with the build. My budget is about 3,000 USD and i'm allowing like 300 for peripherals which I can get locally, so I didn't include them on PCpartpicker. I would appreciate any feedback you might have! Thanks for taking a look!

Do you plan on SLI'ing? If so, I would get the 850W version of that power supply.

Thanks for your reply! If I go with Z97 chipset, will I need to upgrade in the near future for what I am doing? I am assuming there will be few to no CPU upgrades for LGA1150 socket... Or am I dead wrong on that? Also, I'm not doing anything insane on the editing side of things yet but that could change in the near future.

I play a bit of everything; right now im mainly playing CS:GO, GTA, Witcher, H1Z1, Fallout, many others though.

Honestly I never considered x99, everyone has told me "oh you don't need that for what you're going to do". Reasons behind your suggestion? Thanks so much!

your going to be editing/rendering which is x99's speciality. faster than z97/lga1150

and

MOAR CORES

MOAR = GUD ?!? :)

...But seriously, where does z170 fit on the edit/render scale?

use the quote button, its better :)

The reason for X99 is that you said you're gonna be doing editing, rendering, gaming etc. X99 is still faster than Skylake, since Skylake and X99 are priced the same, I went with it. Also, the 5820k has more cores and threads (6C/12T), which makes it faster in rendering or editing. As for games, they perform about the same with slight differences, but your main focus here is the editing and rendering which you will benefit from on X99.

To me, it doesn't... seeing as it's priced nearly the same as X99 I'd rather just go that path.
