Is this a good storage solution

Metro

Hello

I am not trying to show off, I just want some opinions on this storage solution and if it will work

Samsung SM951 512GB NVMe (boot drive, some games)

Intel 750 400GB AiC NVMe (Main games that I play)

Samsung 850 Pro 1TB (games that I do not play regularly)

Samsung 850 Pro 256GB (small files and documents)

What do you think about it

I will be using a 5930K with the MSI X99 Godlike, Corsair 780t and I will have two GPUs in SLI that are 2.5 slots each (not sure if it will cause problems) so could you comment on what you think about it.

Thanks for your time.

The main question would be....why

And imo it's terrible, I wouldn't want my stuff on so many different drives.

I'd say either go with a single large SSD and put everything on it, or go with a 256/512gb SSD + HDD for mass storage/games.

I don't see anything that would be impossible.

P.S.

I agree with djdwosk97. 1TB SSD is not enough for you? :)

You wont benefit much from an Intel750 on games you play a lot.; just grab a 1tb 850 pro and run all your games off that if you really want to.

Personally I run my games off an 840 ssd and use NTFS junctions to swap back and forwards to a storage HDD.

Only thing it will benefit is loading screens mind you.

480GB Intel NVME

&

2TB Samsung 850 EVO

Your SSD for small files and documents is pretty huge for small files and documents, might want to make it a little smaller and save some dough. Also why so many drives? Make partitions in really large drives if you feel the need to separate all your stuff

Not to derail the topic....but what? (what does that do?)

Even Evo's aren't great for the money. I have an 250gb 840 Evo, a 60gb Corsair LS, and a 256gb Crucial M4, and I honestly can't tell them apart.

Lets you swap them and still access them on an HDD (Lookup SteamTool - I use my own custom version of this that works with all games),

The 850s are significantly faster than the 840s, and where samsungs shine is the write speed.

I can tell the difference between most SSDs.

My M500 feels "slow" compared to my 850 Pro.

850 Evo vs Pro is almost no difference. Personally I use the prograde drives because of the better warranty on endurance as I am a super heavy disk user.

I would love to get a 1.2TB Intel 750 series but they just arent cost effective, and a 500gb drive is too small for OS + Applications for me.

I was going to do Intel 750 1.2TB, Samsung 850 Pro 1TB and a Samsung 850 Pro 128GB but then I did read that the Intel is a very low boot drive, so I wanted to go with a Samsung SM951 and use the Intel 750 for games.

I might go with the Samsung 850 Pro 128GB then, I am doing IT at University and I want to put my small renders and files on it.

I wanted to have an Intel 750 1.2TB but you cannot use it as a boot drive because it is very slow, so I will use the Samsung SM951 as it is a lot faster while booting

The Intel 1.2TB has slow boot problems, also I want the Pros because of the longer warranty, endurance and the better controller on it.

I do not want any Hard drives in my computer, I will do backups on an External Hard drive or External SSD, sorry I should have used MultiQuote, I cannot delete the comment now.

Just remember for archival storage HDD > SSD (Just remember to get a WD Black or HGST Ultrastar).

Avoid Seagate drives like you avoid an STD.

But I would just get a big SSD (or 2) and mash everything on it.

PPS: If you are going X99 its already slow boot. My rampage takes a good 10-15 seconds just to post.

Well, then I would just go with 1/2 1tb SSDs then depending on how much space you need.

It would of been good if Samsung made a SM951 1TB version of it, then I would not need the Intel 750

Just get one 2tb 850 evo or two 1tb 850 evos and be done.
