R9 390 seems to need a hell of a ton of PSU Wattage. If the 970 Doesn't need as much i will definitely be buying the 970, but if the power supply is the same or it doesn't cost much to upgrade to a PSU that can support the 390 in the long term, 390 it is.

i would go with the 390

the asus z97-k doesn't support sli. keep this in mind if you get the 970. you won't be able to add another card in the future. the psu wattage is overkill. you only need 500w for an overclock on the cpu and gpu

Also what part of the case does it attach to? is it screwed on then plugged into a motherboard slot, sorry never built a computer before and especially stupid when it comes to motherboards

Look up one of linus' build guides. He goes over pretty much everything in them.

SLI isn't even going to be considered for quite some time =P. And by the time it is considered i wouldn't mind buying a whole new motherboard, maybe even a whole new build.

yes, 600w min

Thanks for info, might stick with 970, with 650w psu so i can upgrade to either a 980 ti with i7 or something better whenever game requirements start exceeding 970.

Sorry for starting this thread again, there's a new deal at pc case gear that'll save me $60ish.

Wondering if this bundle deal is better than what i previously stated as my final build.

The bundle comes with RAM, Motherboard, and Processor, http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=187_1490&products_id=31328&zenid=55a71cb19ba14640d8eaad79c27b6596

RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Red 2x4 DDR3

Processor: Intel Xeon E3 1231 V3

Motherboard: MSI H97 Gaming 3

Are these parts better than my previously mentioned build that i said was my final? the RAM, Motherboard and  Processor are:

RAM:Kingston HyperX Fury Blue 2x4 DDR3

Processor: Intel i5 4690K

Motherboard: ASUS Z97-K

Thanks for all the help.

Xeon's are not made for gaming. Stick with the I5

1. If you stick with the GTX 970, you dont need that much extra watts on the PSU.

2. If you stick with the PSU, go with the R9 390 as it beats that 970 in perf in most situations.

3. If you have USB 3.0 and 2.0 up front, you are able to use them both because there are different headers on the motherboard for each standard.

Everything else seems legit. :D

I would stick with the i5 4690k since CPUs would last you a couple of GPU upgrades before the start to hamper GPU performance, and especially with DX12 arriving, CPUs could last much longer. Also, since im a OC enthusiast, an OC 4690k is miles faster than the Xeon E3.

Thankyou very much, sticking with current build it is. In the end another $60 is not that much to get, and not very hard to work another week max.

Thanks again, i guess sticking with my finalised build in the previous post will suffice.

Looks like a great build.  I'm glad to see that the build ignored "futureproofing", and instead just tried to get great performance NOW.  By the way, post a picture of the finished build when you're done,
