I am looking for a pretty cheap gaming PC build to play mainly Skyrim. Hopefully I can get at least 60fps on Medium or higher. I would be very greatful if anyone were to help me out on this, or even some suggestions to help pick out parts. I can buy used from Kijiji in the Toronto area, and any other Website that ships to or is in Ontario. My budget is about $450 CAD, and that includes any taxes or fees that I might come across.

Thanks for your help! :3

You could make a fairly good build with that budget but it will probably be entirely of used parts, I strongly recommend watching the first Scrapyard Wars series and look on places like Craig's list for parts.

Edit: If you also need peripherals such as keyboard, monitor, etc. it can't be done.

I built my daughter her first Gaming PC for about 3 bills, Only used part was the 500 gig SATA HD

A10-7870k and a gigabyte 88 chipset MB. A case with a 380watt PSU that was half price cause of a scratch for like 40ish....it was a few months ago.

It must be ok cause she gave me 60 bucks for Skyrim the elder scrolls.

I am playing Crysis 3 on my 7850k with the cheap 68 chipset mb with no probs

One nice thing about the A10 is that I can use any old PSU over 200 watts with a 4 pin atx connector and any old case.

Theres a guy on youtube DIYsomething that just screwed the MB on to a piece of plywood and used bungie cords or something for the rest of the stuff.

Fast Ram is a good idea....2133 being the sweetspot, my MSI 68 board wont handle 2133 but dau's 88 board will take 2400

Buy all the parts brand new except for the graphics card, then find a nice used graphics card.

You'll save like $80 by doing that.

And it's easy to get a PC running Skyrim, my Core 2 Duo rig (specs in signature) can run Skyrim just fine and it's only cost me $50 in upgrades.

(EDIT: I play Skyrim at 1440x900 resolution, fullscreen with High detail. No mods. Very nice, smooth FPS.)

Thanks for the replies, that was like really quick. The responses were good and I think I am going to buy a lot a used arts and I was planning to from the start. I know of a couple used graphics cards in my area, like a gtx 770 for 175, and a 580 for 75. Anyway thanks again for the replies and hopefully I can find enough parts to build a decent rig for my budget or a little more even.

Also if anyone can give me advice on upgrading perhaps my Laptop to use a desktop graphics card using a pci-e riser, psu and separate screen/monitor, instead of a new pc, because currently my Laptop can play Skyrim Somewhat Modded (official high res pack, and pure waters) at like average 15 fps on low-med settings but if I were to add a desktop card I think I might be able to get higher than that. Thoughts?

Getting a external gpu to work with a laptop is a drag and the costs sum up.

For a new build under 450  this would do skyrim in 1080p ultra with 4x msaa around 60 fps

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/rw7s4D  You should just overclock that cpu to 4.0 at least, should work with a stock cooler.

If you have a hdd lying around you can save some money of course.

Something like a 580 for 80 would not be bad of course, but youd have to get at least a 500w bronze evga psu for

My honest thoughts on this is that you should save more money. Once you get into the $750 range it's difficult, but possible. Otherwise, just buy a Console.

There is no such thing as excess in hardware.

I already have an Xbox one it just doesnt play skyrim and my Laptop only has integrated graphics and is an i3 so my performance isnt too bad but I would like to get a more gaming oriented PC

That won't play Skyrim well.
