I have a friend that offered to sell me an 8gig kit of corsair 1600mhz. DDR3 for $50

My rig is currently a GTX 970, i5 4690k, ASUS z97 AR motherboard, and 8gigs of the same brand ram rated for 1866 MHz.

Is another 8 gigs a good upgrade for this hardware if I'm playing games like BF4, Cod, witcher 3, and other big titles over he next few years before I really upgrade my PC. I have been maxing out my 8gigs in a couple of games lately and I just want your advice.

THANKS!!

Won't impact performance much for gaming, if you edit/ stream/ heavily multi-task I would go for it tho.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

Worth upgrade if you're maxing out but not a good deal you can easily find new 8GB Dual RAM for around $43

8 gigs should be enough but adding another 8 gigs would be great. The price is not good though, you can get a new kit for less than 40$

for straight forward gaming any more than 8GB is a waste of money.

EDIT: maxing out huhwhatnow O.o the hell are you doing in the background?

I wouldn't go that far, I'd say more then 12 is a waste, b/c a good amount of gamers do multi-task or have chrome or something along those lines that EAT RAM

If you have been reaching 70% - 90% ram usage then it would be good to get more ram.

Edit:

I agree with the others, if you are only gaming then you shouldn't be using that much ram..

Anyways, gl/hf.

there is also a chance that it will not work in your system with the other memory. it could just downclock to the 1600 your mem is running at now but it is "not recommended" to try and mismatch ram as it might not work. sometimes the same speed/model/manufacturer ram wont work if they arent from the same set.  and like others have said 50$ isn't a good price.  tell him 40$ new 30$ (assuming used, it should be at LEAST 10$ less than new)   IF he lets you try it with your current ram and it works properly, check it with memtest86  http://www.memtest.org/
