Weird sound coming from PSU.

Worried that the PSU is dying. But the sound is rattling sound. There's dust in it. Is it causing the fan to make the sound?

Most likely the fan.

sounds like something maybe making contact with the fan. You could try using something plastic (so you don't get a shock) to hold the fan blades still before you switch the machine on. If the noise doesn't start then it is something to do with the fan.

It may be a contributing factor to the overall issue, but for now, give it a good clean. Compressed air does a great job but if you feel up for it, disassemble it and thoroughly clean it with a brush.

 

As a precaution, back up your data if your PSU does go rogue and taking out components along with it.

Fan. Agreed I would recommend replacing it, since if it the fan dies it wont stay very cool.

it could also be coil whine that sounds a bit like a dying fan. I had a similar issue with a  PSU I just replaced, but as was said, it's more likely to be the bearing in the fan failing.
