Brother thinks he needs to upgrade CPU, please explain that he doesn't.

Hello there everyone.

Here's a quick one for you. My brother wants to buy the new Hitman game when it is released, but is unsure if his system will run it sufficiently.

I told him it will, but he decided to check his specs against the older Hitman Game (Absolution) and the website he used told him to there maybe a CPU bottleneck and recommends he upgrades it.

I called BS, and I want your opinions and to tell him to ignore this website.

His current computer specs are as follows.

Intel Core i5 4460

12GB DDR3

GTX 960 2GB

The website he used, said there is a CPU bottleneck and recommends he upgrades to a Intel Xeon E5 4650 (A $3600 processor)

And to show how BS I think this site is, It recommends my system gets an upgrade to a Intel Xeon E7-8890 V2 (an almost $7000 processor)

Note the site does say, this suggestion doesn't mean he can/can not run the game, but I think it is BS that they are suggesting those processors.

Your thoughts please.

Edit: This post is also more of a PSA on how un-reliable this site is and to not use it.

That site is a joke.

Go to the game steam page and check requirements.

System Requirements
  • MINIMUM:
    • OS: Win7+ 64 bit only
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 / Radeon HD 6870
    • DirectX: Version 11

He is more than good to go.

That website tells you to upgrade whatever component scored the lowest,

even if he got 9 out of 10 points for CPU.

Gamedebate is a terrible site that should not be used by anyone ever.

Is he actually willing to drop $3600 just to play Hitman?

No, he doesn't have that money. He is just in the mindset that he needs to upgrade to something better because of the website. i just need to convince him, he doesn't need to upgrade.

Thanks For The Replies. I wont be spending $3600 on a CPU. If its fine to stick with my Intel i5 4460 then I sure will be :)

Sites like cpuboss, gpuboss, and gamedebate are absolutely worthless. The cpu it recommended to your brother is from 2012

WTH?!  What reasonable human being would ever think any game in the world requires those processors? Is that based entirely on random generator or what?
