The 780 won't cut it. Also, why the i7? Do you need the hyperthreading for rendering?

Those are the parts he owns right now (prolly right beside him lol) :P

 

Find a used GTX 780 for cheap, or sell your 780 and buy a new GPU.

 

Edit 1: AMD cards have better compute performance so you will see better rendering times in Adobe and Sony editing suites.

Sell the 780 and go for an R9 or two. You'll get better performance in rendering and minimal loss (assuming you sell the 780 and buy a higher tier nVidia GPU) in game performance.

Yeah, I was considering Amd for a while also for their freesinc but I was also waiting for the new GPU series to see if HBM2 will be better. When will Pascal come out?

sorry I didn't say what I was going to buy, I'll wait till february of next year to buy something like a gtx 980 ti before Pascal comes out so the prices should drop. Lol I can't wait two and a half years to play a game!
