if i buy an avermedia live portable gamer would i be able to capture and encode it in obs using NVENC? (i was told NVENC uses a dedicated chip on newer nvidia gpus) only reason i want to know is i wonna use the avermedia to capture my ps4 and pc and i was wandering if i could off loud the usage from my cpu to the dedicated chip on my 960 since they both encode in h.264

Can you stream already using... that?

yes however i cant capture and stream my ps4 with out skyrocketing my cpu usage wich is why i was asking if nvenc could be used while capturing other devices

Why would you need it to if you are not using your pc but instead using your ps4 unless I am not understanding you correctly

No, I meant can you already stream using NVENC.

I'm sure the PS4 already has live streaming to twitch as well as gameplay recording built-in. Why do you need it going through your PC?

He probably knows the limitations of streaming directly FROM the console?

I believe the streaming and video capture on the consoles are very limited

I see. In this case OP shouldn't really be worried about the CPU usage going up, as long as he's holding a solid framerate and as long as the computer isn't cooking itself (badly cooled).

Streaming is absolute shit on consoles as opposed to running it through your pc.

I believe that is indeed how it works, if you set the codec to NVENC it will use your GPU to encode what you're capturing.

thanks i figured it would only work when playing a pc game but ill try it and see if i can use nvenc while capturing a capture card
