WD black vs blue

I am getting a hard drive to be constantly writing too for shadow play desktop recording, I will also use it for video file storage, should I get a blue or black for $20 more, what are the advantages?

Blacks are usually the faster variant.

If Its only video storage it shouldnt matter too much.

If your gonna edit from the hdd the black would be better.

RPM doesn't matter in this case. They're the same! Read/write speeds are different than RPM.

Correction WD blue is actually a little bit faster than the black one. Look at this video:

Both are the same regards in speed, it's just the black is designed to write more/last more than a blue plus the black has a 5 year warranty over the 3 year warranty.

There are different Blues available. The one used in the video was one of the better ones. 

Generally, Blacks are souped up Blues but often not worth the extra money. If speed is of concern, just get a ssd. Otherwise, Blues or alternatively Barracudas are fine.
