So if you had the skills, so could you hack your monitor to support Freesync?

If it supports a-vsync, yup. But most monitors that support a-vsync work with freesync anyway, even if not "certified" by amd.

Laptops with Nvidia chips already support Free-Sync they just don't admit it. They just want to keep Gsync going as long as they can to milk every extra $200 dollars on every monitors as they can that says Gsync.

Sure, but what would even be the point? They can't really market to hardcore gamers, they're better off using AMD's software.

Freesync is amd software support for adaptivesync.

Intel can make their own software support for it. It wont chance the fact that all currently released freesync monitors will work with it either way.

Only thing thats dead in the water - future compatibility wise - is all gsync monitors and all nvidia video cards that dont have dp1.2a.
