It'll be my first time buying a pc and the GTX 950 seemed like a good fit, my question is what brand I should get. I was leaning towards MSI and ASUS since they seemed to have the better specs on newegg, but I am not sure if I am reading the specs right. I also don't know if I chose a comparable EVGA since there were like 4 of them. I've heard ASUS pre overclocks or something but I wouldn't know much about it so if someone could explain that it would be helpful.

So based on the specs from newegg should I get the ASUS strix or the MSI twin frozr? (Or are the specs meaningless until people actually get their hands on them)? Either way I would appreciate your guys feedback.

None, the R9 270X is better and you can get one for as low as $130.

I had heard that only 300 series and 900 series card will recieve full DirectX benefits and so I didn't really look into old cards because of it.

(Heard it in this video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWzbzYjQYOY

Is this any true and if so is it a big deal?

Every GCN card, along with every Fermi, Kepler and Maxwell card will receive DX12.

The last few generations of both Nvidia and AMD cards will support the vast majority of DX12 features, I wouldn't worry about it

None of the above. Get a GTX 960 for $5 more after a $20 rebate, and get a copy of the new Metal Gear Solid too
