what cpu should I get?

Go to solution Solved by Jacona,

Intel, should last you longer than the almost 3 years old AMD.

And a H97 would be better.

So here's my budget for both a cpu and a motherboard: 330 CAD$ (keep canadian currency in mind please)

Also only use newegg.ca please

You're welcome to change any parts of this, these are just the two I had in mind

I have 2 choices in mind here:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130790

OR

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117302

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157563

Could add like 30$ to the budget depending on how bad you convince me

the i5-4460 is a better processor if you're gaming, the FX will be in some cases a better option if you build a purely workstation build, but even then many programs rely on single-threaded performance and powerful cores in which case the core i5 will do better than an overclocked FX...so just pick the i5.

Sry lol, the prices are about the same so I thought they'd compete a bit

The fx8 has pretty bad single core performance and the architecture behind it was devolved well, over 4 years ago.

That is exactly why they won't. If you could save a hundred or more I would say go with amd. Honestly if you fine a really cheap motherboard with a 8320 for about 135 that wouldn't be terrible either. The 8320 has some good value.
