I'm in between two graphics cards.

The 280x by half a mile... it has 3GB Vram and performs a lot better.

It loses in benchmarks BTW.. but good luck throwing today's games on a 2GB Vram GPU with any nice fancy visuals.

I have a GTX 680 Superclocked atm, but I have somebody who is willing to purchase, and I'd have enough for a r9 280x Dual X card, my question is, which is better??

The 280X is much more powerful, has more vram, sapphire's version is particularly good, and it's a generation younger than the 680, even if it has the same GPU as the 7970, so, dead win for the 280x

It's not exact, the 290x and 390 trade blows a lot, the 380 comes in both 2 and 4 gigs, so, depending on your budget, it's slightly better or worse than the 280x. It's not meant to be exact, but it does give a good idea of where the 280x stands between AMD's line up.

One of the big selling points of the 285 was mantle support, and...that's dead now, so i don't see it standing up to the 280x, even if it's newer, the 280x is still a very, very powerful card for it's price point
