Hello,

I currently have a i7 3770k clocked at 4GHz ish.

http://gyazo.com/e43221ef148ca640733bf2e697166c17

cooling wise I am using an antec h2o 920 getting about as much air flow as it can handel

Is my processor running too hot? should i down clock my processor to stock speeds? (3.5GHz)

what temperature should my processor be running at? reccomendations to keep it cooler?

(i dont always keep my cooler on the "extreme" setting. just when i feel the need to get it down in temp

to avoid a melt down)

Thanks,

You should be trying to hit 4.4-4.5 ghz with those temps.

No that is fine because that is in fahrenheit so around 55C on the hottest core is great.

55C actually :)

Are you sure ?

You are looking at the liquid temperature not the CPU temperature.

Sorry, I noticed you looked at the MAX temps, (Forget I said that)

Keep raising the frequency and try to stay within the voltage limit that Intel allows. Other loose the lifespan of the chip may be reduced

Like I said aslong as you don't go above 80C/176F while running Prime95 or 70C/158F while gaming or productivity it is fine.

I will keep that in mind. Thank you.

I will once I get my Z77 motherboard. Currently I have a H77 motherboard which only allows me to OC within the intel boost range.
