Do you think the EK Predator will make a massive difference to CPU temperatures compared to a Corsair H110GTX at load

The radiator won't make much of a difference at all. The fans on the other hand do. Seriously though... once you get into the better aio's most pumps are fairly comparable (and are sourced from one of only two or three makers), and thicker vs thinner rads have shown only marginal improvements depending on airflow.

 

Why do most of corsair's aio's suck? because they come with shitty ass fans.

 

The h110i used the regular sp140 fans which quite frankly are terrible when compared to what NZXT/Fractal/Noctua have on the market and compared to the SP140L fans that the h110i GT (and from what I can tell the h110i gtx) uses.

 

I haven't tried the Vardar fans, but I am willing to bet they are up there with the Venturi and Noctua fans with NZXT FX140v2 fans being a close third.

 

 

BTW a 280mm radiator has nearly 40,000 mm^2 surface area compared to a 240mm's just under 30,000 mm^2 so no decent 280 will be touched by a 240.

 

Interestingly enough though a 360mm rad has only ~10% more surface area than a 280 has so really that's the product that should out-preform the h110i gtx.

Even a custom loop with 480 rad will not drop the the temp that much, suppose they both have the same fans at the same speed.

I don't think it will give a performance increase worth the upgrade. The EK AIO has a ton of features, particularly easy expandability, which are awesome, but if you already have a 280mm rad cooling your CPU, you won't see much of a difference unless you go custom WC with overkill rad surface.

I just learn the lesson recently by switching from Corsair H105 to custom loop with Coolstream PE 240 rad. Both run Noctua NF-F12 at 1150rpm. The difference in temp is 1*C.

With the same fans, the SA is 10% more and lets assume (randomly, but likely true) that the EK system is 15% better per mm^2 overall.

 

With that in mind I'd expect to see load temp differences of up to 5 C. Nice, but not likely needed in the first place unless you are running a massively overclocked x99 or 6700k chip. Also note that the improvement will be roughly proportional to the amount of power the cpu is generating in the first place (aka you will see a lot more improvement from a 1.4V 5820k than you would from a 1.4V 6700k ).

No. I tried two 240 rads(=480). I drop 4*C compares to a single 240 rad.

Ouch... I would get notua fan's but they are too ugly for my black-out build so I have Venturis on the way to replace the stock NZXT fans (which are very strong but rather loud. Also they are not all black.)

Either way balooning voltage will likely be an issue long before load temps will be. I wouldn't go any higher than 1.4 on Haswell-E and even then some chips won't hit 4.6 on that. (or rarely 4.5)

I use Industrial PPC PWM. I can't stand the poop brown of standard Noctua.

Vardar=Noctua=Venturi basically.... Get the ones that match your build best. Vardar are white if I remember right. Venturi are Black, Noctua are black and brown or grey.

Blackout build I can't leave those corners on, and noctua's get quite a bit louder without them.
