so, i built my first PC a couple of weeks ago and i have hit a slight snag.... i can feel a tingle of electricity through a thumb screw on the case. i only noticed this when i touched the screw while plugging in the HDMI, i cant figure out what would be causing this (its only when i have power going to the computer so i presume it is electrical).

i havent turned on the PC since i noticed this as i dont want to fry anything, thought it would have done that anyway though. the ONLY thing i can think that is causing this is the graphics card touching the PSU, i used the stand-offs needed for the MOBO so its not that, someone has said to put rubber grommets on the stand-offs but they werent even mentioned when installing the MOBO in the guide i followed (the phenom M build on linus tech tips).

if you have any idea what could be causing this, please let me know. i dont want to have a £1000 PC that i cant use

first thing, check the motherboard standoffs aren't touching anything. they, and the PSU, and a few usb plugs should be the only things that might have power with the system switched off

Could be a screw somewhere under the motherboard making contact. Could be a riser in the wrong spot. I have also had a peculiar encounter with a faulty power bar that caused the same problem and an improperly wired electrical outlet will do it too.

The strangest one I think I've ever had was a motherboard tray that was curved, took me forever to figure that one out, the tray was bowed in the middle so it made contact with the bottom of the motherboard.
