Hello everyone! I frequently lurk these forums and the build log forums to keep myself "in the know". I'm ready to go for my first build!

Budget: 850-900 is pretty much maximum, however if there's a steal of a deal that comes up then I'll be willing to spend up to 100 $ more. I do live in Canada however I live near the US border and have a microcenter 15 minutes away so i'd prefer to make my whole purchase at Said mc.

Aim: I'm going to be using this build for gaming 70% of the time, browsing 15% and programming/light editing 15%.

Timeline: I'll be purchasing all parts in about 3 weeks and building the same day. I can push the timeline a week or so later if there's a release of something coming out that would greatly help the build.

Peripherals: The mouse and keyboard are not part of the build as I already have both, ill be purchasing the monitor roughly 3 weeks after the build and ill be using my 40 inch tv as a monitor until then. But if there's some steal of a deal for like 100-130$ for a 24 inch good quality monitor then ill add that much to the budget. Also I have a pair of unopened g skill sniper ram 8gb total that say they work with the lga1155 platform, I was wondering if they'll work with the 1150 as well? And finally I have win 8 already.

So, first your RAM doubt: Yes, it works just fine, you can use the same on any motherboard that has DDR3 support, (Any LGA 1155, 1150, 2011, 1136, 775, AM3, AM3+, FM1, FM2, etc.).

And second, buy a WD Blue or Seagate barracuda then buy an SSD, I recommend Kingston V300 60GB or Samsung 840 128GB, it's about $100 USD.

And some really nice and cheap monitors recommendations.

As far as getting a ssd is concerned I dont think it actually gives gaming performance does it? It only improves application and os start up correct?

if you install few games on a SSD, it will have a boost performance.
