running a sata 3 ssd on a sata 2 mothetboard

Hi,

recently my motherboard died on me so i need to get a replacement, i have a xeon e3 1245 v2 lga 1155.

so my question is should i spend another 60 bucks for a Z/H 77 or just stock to a basic H61 board. since i cant overclock the 60 bucks will be for sata 3 and usb 3.

i mainly use my pc for gaming and programming i am a computer science student and a z77 motherboard will cost me an arm and a leg :( but is it worth it for such an aging platform and no im not looking to upgrade in the near future (ie 3 years)

xeon e3 1245 v2 is definitely not aging. It's still top tier.

it's fine, you'll be limited to around 300mb/s which is still more then enough
