Have to be the same one, I am not 100% sure but I am 98.9% sure.

EDIT: I googled it fast, apparently you can but the guy above me had right, it will be slower.

NVIDIA requires the two desired PCIe slots to run at x8 regardless of generation. You may SLI two 780s together even if they're different board partners. However, you cannot SLI a 780 with a 780 Ti and VRAM amount must be the same.

Heyyo,

What motherboard and PSU are you using? You'll need an SLI ready motherboard and a PSU big enough to support your PC with an extra GPU on top.

Next? You'll need another GTX 780. If you can get a matching pair? Awesome. Matched pairs tend to have really good scaling. If not? That's fine too, the faster card will downclock itself to match the slowest card. Same idea as dual channel RAM and RAID hard drives.

It's the same core actually. GK110.

it will be slower.

It will not be slower. It can work with different clock speeds, but the gains will be less and stuttering may be apparent if the difference is large, so matching the clockspeeds is beneficial.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

Yep, u r totally right, got it confused with the titan and 770, forgot the 770 is the rebrand.

EDIT

Still can't SLI with a 780!

Heyyo,

That... is a serious amount of PSU and motherboard which is good. Heck, you could probably tri-SLI without issue heh... maybe even Quad but at that point you'd be better off with two GTX 980 Ti's. :P

Speaking of which? What resolution are you running? 1920x1080? The 3GB of VRAM on your GTX 780 would be ok for Two-Way SLI, but If you're thinking of stepping up to 2560x1440? I'd get a GTX 980 Ti and sell your GTX 780 tbh. 3GB of VRAM for 2560x1440 would limit your graphics to how much VRAM you'd have.

3GB of VRAM will seriously limit your graphical abilities if you went even further to 4K UHD (3840x2160). 4K maxed out can gobble up 4GB of VRAM pretty fast.
