Hi,

So i'm finally getting my rig tommorow, super stoked ofcourse, but i'm not certain about a couple of parts. Here's what i had in mind.

CPU : intel core i5 4690K (Will be using an older cpu cooler/stock cooler until i have money for the 212 evo)

MOBO: Asus z97-p  OR  MSI b85-g43 gaming

GPU : MSI gtx970 gaming 4g dr5   OR  r9 390 -> (brand?)

RAM : Crucial Balistix 8gb ddr3 1600

Storage : (already own 1tb WD blue )   Samsung 850 evo 120gb ssd

PSU : MS-TECH  ms-n550-val-cm rev B.  550w

Case : MS-TECH  ca-0186-u3 rev B

Already own optical drive , aswell as a monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

GRAND TOTAL 985€ , 15€ over budget.

Questions ; what mobo ? what gpu? anything i could save up on by picking another similar part? (psu & case look a little unreliable)

I'm gonna be using this build for : Gaming (gta5,arc,csgo,...)  , photoshop and illustrator , day-to-day computer usage.

Keep in mind i live in Belgium so some stuff will not be available to me.

Have a lovely day.

You can over clock on a B85...

Only on certain boards, and you often have to download fancy BIOSes to do so. Z97 is easier, likely better for Overclocking the last little bit out of your CPU (it was designed for Overclocking, unlike B85). Z97 also has more up to date features.

I've never heard of the case, so I suggest getting a NZXT source 210 it's really good for the money.

@Bob Jim @EllieThePurpleFuzzy @SeanAngelo @ilikemacandpc @Rusty_Shackleford @OAcesync     Is the Asrock z97 anniversary a good choice? Or the Asus Z97-P  or MSI z97-g43??

What brand r9 390?? Sapphire? XFX ?

Also, thinking of not buying ssd, so i have more money to get a better case and psu, i will pick on up in about a month.

I would stick with Asus, MSI or Gigabyte for the Motherboard.

For the R9 390 then Sapphire are fine, along with MSI and Gigabyte.

Get either an MSI Gaming, Sapphire Nitro, or PowerColor PCS+ if you wanna save a bit of money. The sacrifice of an SSD for a better case and PSU is a VERY good idea. Get the ASUS Z97-P, better than the MSI Z97-G43 and much better than the Asrock Z97 Anniversary.

PowerColor is also surprisingly good for the 390 in particular. Tests show 68C load max temps, and the Factory OC is not too bad. The only problem is that their fan curve at stock is questionable, but changeable with MSI Afterburner (as in, 40C idle, VERY QUIET, and 68C load, quite loud). I would turn the fans up a bit at idle and down a bit at load.

whats the price difference on the asrock, msi and asus motherboards??

I would go with Sapphire between the two. or an EVGA or MSI if you can find one.

an SSD isnt really that important if you dont care about speed, a month isnt that long anyway.
