Hey guys i have a couple of questions and feel free to give me any advice!

First of all, I am no tech expert, I've only watched youtube videos on GPU's and things like that.

My current specs :

Geforce GT 640

AMD FX 6300 unlocked

(if you need anymore specs please ask) I'm looking to upgrade my GPU to an AMD Radeon MSI r9 390, I have never upgraded anything from my pc so here are the questions:

1. If i switch from an Nvidia card to AMD card will it be compatible?

2. Will My processor be good enough to support the r9 390? (bottlenecking)

3. How to check which power supply you have and to see if mine will give enough watts to support the r9 390

4. How to check if it will fit (I'm going to ask my local tech guy this but any tips will help)

5. Amazon currently has r9 390 for around 400 dollars and someone said I should wait to buy it when it drops in price, how often do they get new orders in?

6. With my processor, will i be able to get at least 50 FPS on modern games like the witcher 3? (Around maxed or high settings)? (I currently get around 15 fps :C)

Any responses are GREATLY appreciated

*Edit* I forgot to mention my monitor, i know almost nothing about monitors but its a 1600x900 pavillion 20bw and its about 10 inches up and 17.5 inches across. Will this have a drastic effect on my FPS in game?

1. yes.

2. yes.

3. Ask us.

4. do the math (or ask us)

5. ??

6. maybe with something of R9 390 level, but not sure how important CPU is in that game

How many watts is your PSU?

What case do you have?

It will bottleneck in games that are also CPU bound but you should get 40fps in most optimized modern games

                                                                                                                 Setup

CPU: i3 4160|Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE|RAM: Kingston HyperX Blue 8GB(2x4GB)|GPU: Sapphire Nitro R9 380 4GB|PSU: Seasonic M12II EVO 620W Modular|Storage: 1TB WD Blue|Case: NZXT S340 Black|PCIe devices: TP-Link WDN4800| Montior: ASUS VE247H| Others: PS3/PS4

I don't know how to check which case I have but I can check my watts if i open my case (which I have never done before)

Okay then measure the space you have in the case for the maximum GPU length

                                                                                                                 Setup

And also please answer monitor question i just edited in

900p then you should have 60fps

Uhmm i dont mean to be rude but can you link a video on how to do this? Like i've never even seen the inside of a computer case and haave no idea how to do anything inside of it. (sorry if i frustrate you with my noobie-ness)

It's hard to explain it's best if you link a picture of the inside of your computer

Okay so just unscrew the screws and take off the panel and as long as i dont touch anything other than the panel i wont give off any electric charge?

Yeah but if the case is metal or has metal parts just constantly touch that and you can touch the components without giving off discharge that will effect it but just avoid touching parts of the motherboard

Your PSU is only 350W so the only modern gaming GPU you could fit in that system is a GTX 750Ti also what I mean is that you see your GPU measure the length from the very back of GPU inside the case to that cable tie point

You could actually comfortably fit a Gigabyte R9 390 in the case but the problem is your Power Supply it's only 350W and the 390 requires 600W so the best you could use with the power supply is a 750Ti.

Alright ill look into upgrading my power supply. But will switching from an MSI r9 390 to a Gigabyte r9 390 reduce performance at all?

No they're same only difference is that they may have different overclocking performance which won't really affect you at all and the MSI card would be a close fit anyways
