As long as that 1tb hard drive only has like 200gb of stuff on it everything will be fine. However, clean install is always a much better solution.

How will it workout if I try to clone a 1tb HDD to 240GB SSD?

I was thinking that I could upgrade a Laptop's 1tb hdd to 240 gb ssd, the HDD isn't used so much so the 240gb wouldn't be enough.

Will it give some kinda of errors etc?

Also what program should I use for it?

Move off any unimportant programs, files, etc. to another drive. Clean up the HDD so it creates more space and runs clean. Copy over using Macrium Reflect (that's what I use) then move all the unimportant stuff from earlier back to the now wiped HDD.

First you will need to delete files until your HDD is 240 gb or less...i'm guessing you have files you don't need. then just copy the partition over to the SSD.

Will this kinda cable work (the one at the right side):

evo-contents.jpg

I mean if I plug the SSD to that, can I clone it over that?

Shouldn't it work as the computer will recognize the HDD/SSD as regular HDD/SSD when using that.

Yes, that cable is a USB 3.0 to SATA adapter, and it will work.
