Hi,

I want to upgrade my current build which is the following:

Mainboard: P8 H61-MLE/USB3

Processor: Intel Core i5-2500 3.3 GHz

RAM: 2x 4GB Kingston DDR3 (1600MHz, CL11)

Graphic: NVIDEA GeForce GTX 550 Ti

HardDrive: Crucial CT250BX100 SSD (250GB), WD20EZRX 2TB HDD

Powersupply: Be Quiet Pure Power 530W

Case: Sharkoon T5 Value

The plan is so get the best gaming pc for the money (I want to spend on it).

The question is, what components should I switch, which are still good

and on what should I spend most of the money, graphic card?

My limit would be about 900€ for the upgrade.

My current new build would look like that:
Mainboard: Asus ROG Maximus VII Ranger
Processor: i5 4690K

RAM: HyperX Savage HX316C9SRK2 16GB (1600 MHz, CL9)

Graphic: MSI GTX 960 Gaming 4G

HardDrive: same as above

Powersupply same as above

Case: same as above

CPU cooler: be quiet BK019 Dark Rock Pro 3
Additional cooling: Be Quiet Silent Wing 2 PWM

I would really appreciate every tipp you can give me.

greetings

Daniel

No need for that motherboard. Also get a R9 390, if it's within your budget

This will do fine

I put this together

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  (€247.71 @ Amazon Deutschland)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 67.8 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (€93.80 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  (€59.90 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 960 4GB Video Card
Total: €401.41
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

The cpu cooler and the graphics card didn't have any de. listings on pcpartpicker, so I have no idea how much they are, but I'd imagine they could fit in the budget.

I used that cooler and motherboard in my friends build and they work just fine. Although one problem a lot of people have with that cooler is it is tricky to screw down the nuts due to the placement of the screws. If you have an angled wrench then it should be alright

Thanks a lot (again),
So 16GB RAM would be overkill aswell?
Is it possible to overclock the cpu with this mobo ("the easy way") otherwise the
i5-4690K wouldn't be necessary.

What video card would be the better choice GTX 970 or Radeon R9 390 ?

Z97 boards are meant for overclocking, so yes.

I prefer nvidia, but others would say get the radeon one

~snip~

Hey there Daniel92 and welcome to the community :)

Just a small note from me: If you are going to reuse the storage drive I'd definitely run a diagnostic tool to check their health and make sure they are safe to store the data on your new build. I'd recommend using the tools provided by the manufacturer. For the WD drive that would be WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=reQTze

The guys gave you some good advice so I'd listen to it. :)
