I'm watching Luke's stream right now and I just started thinking to myself about 3D printing and found that the printers really aren't ridiculously unaffordable for what they do. Hence, I wanted to know if anyone knew the sort of go-to software people mostly use for 3D printing? Specifically, I would like to know which program people would be most likely to use in a job??? I'm not that interested in the actual printing right now, but rather in the software and 3d modeling that goes into these things; especially since my future career will entail some soft of computer and software engineering.

Cura is my choice of 3d printing software, it's simple and it works, unlike replicatorG... Buggy Mess..

3d software.. Well there are plenty to to choice from.

Personally I use solid edge, abit hardcore so I don't recommend it but things like sketchup, blender and.. Well any cad program really can get the job done as long as you know how to use it.

Google sketchup can be used for 3d modelling, however if you are a student you can use autodesk inventor for FREE! I own a 3d printer, and I then rebuilt it using mostly scanners. Its in storage right now but it works about as good an an ultimaker. Try buying a one up 3d printer. Its only 200 bucks.

Sorry if I sound snarky.

Your question is not really about 3D printing then?

Didn't know I had to be that specific. It was just a general question about 3d printing. I think of the software thing more as of a sub category of 3d printing but ill be more specific next time lol
