Hi all,

I'm in the market to trade up from my trusty old 560ti!
I am unsure which route to go down, a second hand 770 or a new 960.

They both are roughly the same price here in Australia and was wondering which option would yield better performance?
I am just upgrading to a 1440p monitor also on my 2500k rig.
Thanks!

the 770 will perform better since the 960 is pretty much just a 760

Second hand 770s are dropping dramatically in price.

I recommend them highly over a 960.

770 but you're going to a 1440p monitor...you won't be able to play everything on mid-high if you play at 1440p. 1080p is fine

770 definitely. Performance is around the same but the 960 has a bit of new tech like gameworks and DX12 support Correction: DX11 class GPUs support DX12 as well.

Although given a new and a second hand card, I'd choose the new card. Totally my opinion of course.

960 performance is between the 760 and 760 Ti (if you've never heard of it, it's because it's OEM only, and a direct rebrand of the 670)

So 770 is better.

Desktop: Intel Core i5 2380P (2400 w/o iGPU), MSI H61, 8GB RAM, 256GB SP610, 500GB WD Blue, HIS R9 280, Antec TruePower Classic 550W, Inwin MANA 134, QNIX QX2710, CM QuickFire Rapid, Logitech G402

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite L40D, AMD A6-6310, 6GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Radeon R4 Graphics, 14" 1366x768

Phone: iPhone 6 Space Gray 64GB, T-Mobile $60/mo 3GB plan
