HP Omen vs Razerblade 2015

Tasuma

I am transferring to a 4-year university in a year or so and I'm saving up for a nice laptop. After looking at reviews and what I'd like it came down to these two machines. What would you lovely folks at LTT suggest? Please no "Build an M-itx and get a ultra book" argument because that isn't what I want to do. I'm aware that is prob best bang for your buck but I would rather have a nice laptop. Much love!

Edit: Id be going with the cheapest models of each.

well.... HP and Razer, kinda hard, they're both "quality" brands, though HP is cheaper, and you don't need a touchscreen in a gaming laptop

Go for the Blade, it' better

Well, out of these 2 I'd say Razer Blade but if you are open to ideas - Asus RoG or a Clevo (their might cannot be matched!) - bonus points if you guess the quote.

I was looking at the RoG but I've read some poor reviews and warcraft 3 quote. :D

Based on these laptop choices you want something thin, so Razer Blade would be the better option depending on what specs you choose

RoG are some serious badass machines - cooling is among the best and quitest. I'd say get one with the large exhausts, 1080p screen and 980m

Also, nice work ^_^ WC3 FTW

The thing is I want the thin form factor. I don't want to carry a brick of a machine around.

It really depends on the model chosen; the newer ones are better and faster given the reviews that have been shown

And they aren't too bulky unless they are compared to really thin laptops like the Razer Blade

Then the blade is your best bet for cooling and power - others will run hot. I know that Lenovo Y50 with a i7 4710HQ and 970M runs at 85-90*C under load

Blade will run at 80*C and go to 90*C after some dust builds up.

Eh well I wouldn't even compare the HP omen to a Blade but if you're looking at a blade you should look into the new alienware 13. I just bought one with the 3200x1800 ips touch screen display and it is absolutely beautiful.

It's good if you ask men, something I was also looking at when I was buying my rig. Will work just fine and save you quite a bit of cash.

Just the reviews scare me a bit. Could very well be people who can't take good care of their laptops so I know to take it with a grain of salt.

Well, Asus have good quality lappys. My sister has doused hers in water, coffee, bear and cigar ash and it's still working fine. Not that model but still Asus.

For the price of the cheapest Omen, you can get a much more powerful yet slim Clevo.

There's the Clevo P650SE. Comes with a 970M, a 15.6" full HD IPS panel (still roughly depends on the Clevo reseller you would be getting from), 3 cooling fans, runs quiet (when not playing games, like you're in class), 4 RAM slots, 2 M.2 SSD slots and 2 SATA slots which can be set up in RAID, about 2.5kg and 25mm thick. I have the 980M variant (P650SG) and I love it. I bring it to school everyday.

You can get it from like 1444 USD with a full HD IPS panel.

EDIT: This has about 4 hours of battery life from my experience while in class in like high performance mode, your mileage may vary.
