Laptop lag while drawing?

Recently, my best friend went and bought a new laptop (an MSI GE70 Apache Pro-681) on my recommendation based on her budget. She intends on using it primarily for web browsing, drawing (I believe with Adobe Photoshop), and some light gaming. The only problem is that she experiences a slight amount of lag while drawing which occasionally causes her to make mistakes. Manageable, but somewhat frustrating. From what I could see, the hard drive would constantly write data while she drew, leading me to believe upgrading to an SSD could resolve the issue. Does it make sense for Photoshop to lag like this because of the HDD, or could it be a completely different problem?

With drawing, do you just mean she uses PS or is she using some kind of drawing tablet? (Like a Wacom tablet or something)

If she is using a graphics tablet it could be a driver based issue. I know with any off brand graphic tablets they use a modified Wacom driver then tend to be buggy.

She uses a tablet. I'll have her check the drivers. Photoshop is already set to high performance on the Nvidia Control Panel.
