This is why I don't recommend buying a 4GB vram card in 2015.

TheConverter

Yeah.... im the troll. You are the one sitting here playing games at 10fps at 8k to satisfy your need of how cool you think you are. Your whole argument is a non issue. I already showed you, you don't need that much vram and even if it gets used it's not being the game wouldn't run fine without it. Between compression and use of system memory 4gb is good enough, 6gb is even crazier. Amd pretty much went nuts with 8gb and those cards can't even drive resolutions that large. And the fact bf4 scales with sli at 8k shows that it's not a memory limitation.

It is... that's why the Fury X performs better the the 980Ti at higher resolutions like 4K, 5k and 8K. Too bad there aren't any benchmarks of it...

So then tell me why it does not hold back sli setups at 8k? And can you also tell me why 290x was always faster at 4k than 780ti? I can tell you that 290x most certainly didn't have hbm. What is the excuse there? Maybe you could take into consideration the fact amd cards have many more Tflops.

The 512bit bus and faster texture fill rate??

How is this not playable for you guys:

The 512bit bus and faster texture fill rate?? I sometimes notice that with my 980Ti versus the R9 290.

The 512 bit helps but it's memory isn't much faster. And of course some games will be playable but seriously, there is no point to play at those resolutions. Not everyone likes to play 6 year old games. What you are doing is just dumb. I have made my point. I will bash my face on my keyboard if I have to continue to talk to you about something so pointless.

8K gaming is pointless? It's coming next year dude... not my fault that you are using a overkill rig for 2560x1080 resolution.

I bet you can play 80% of your Steam library in 5120x2160. Old games aren't "shit". There are a lot of old games I still want to play to understand the whole franchise like Crysis 1+2, AC 1+2 etc. Those are perfectly playable at whatever resolution you want.

It actually shocks me how little we have come in terms of graphics since ~2008-2009 era

It's funny how you  say slideshow, yet you have a 60hz monitor...

I don't really play older games, there is only so many times you can play something before it gets stale. I player newer demanding games that tax my system quite well. Most people are like that.

Well, I play everything from Witcher 3+GTA V to Simpson Hit and Run 2003 (le gem).

I have a Acer XB270HU and prefer to play at 5K DSR in games like Witcher 3 were +60 is useless, but in Battlefield 4 and CS:GO I play at 1440P 144FPS for competitive play.

You will be suprised how people don't use DSR at all.. for any game... (including emulators)

-snip-

you're playing at 8k...... what do you expect? games are still not optimized for that resolution nor are the cards you'll still need to wait 2 or 3 more generations of cards until you can play at 8k with no problems
