Overclock my I5 4460?

I know its not supposed to over clock... but can I? I have a cheap Dell Mobo if that helps (088dt1). (yes I'm using a Dell to game.)

You can not overclock. You need a "K" (K= Unlocked) Series Processor.

I highly doubt it. Not only are you running a locked CPU but also a Dell mainboard which definetly never was designed to OC since they are build for cheap and stable office usage.

The only I'd see would be with a custom BIOS and some minimalistic baseclock OC on that CPU. And even then you'd just fry the board.

With an aftermarket board you could probably get a 105Mhz BCLK

You can overclock locked chips using BCLK (base clock). It won't be a large OC but it is still an OC in the end.

How do you do this? I have a 4460 in a second rig with a ASRock Z97M OC Formula. Terrible BIOS. Can't find shit on it, but apparently it's supposed to be good to OC on. Is it as simple as modifying the multiplier? Heard you can overclock Xeons this way.

Ok, I was planning to get a new one because my current one only has PCI-E x16 1.0 and not 3.0, also I want to upgrade Ram.

No 1150 board has PCIe 1.0. 

 

The worst you can possibly have is PCIe x16 2.0, which will not bottleneck any current single GPU. Not even 980Ti or Fury X.
