Hello mates, I have a friend that is building a new pc, but has a doubt about choosing the correct graphics solution.

He was about to buy one 970 and upgrade it on the future adding another one, having 2 way sli.

He'll be playing 4k res, and maybe this is not the best solution, because of the amount of ram memory, so he should go for a bigger one. What's your opinion?

Thanks a lot.

Honestly if I was going for 4k I would be wanting a minimum of a 980ti

I'd probably get an AMD card as they thrive on resolutions higher than 1440p.

390 of Fury X should be fine imo.

FIrst of all it should be a 390 if anything.

Secondly, it would be enough to play at 4k, as long as he doesn't expect to max games out. I'm quite satisfied playing at 4k with an r9 290, but your friend might not be. I'd recommend an r9 295x2 if he wants a LOT of performance for relatively cheap. Or simply a 980ti.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I have a 980ti and its very capable at 4k.

only turning off AA in most games is the sacrifice made to maintain tain 60fps on ultra details.

a fury x would also be a great choice but the limitations of 4gb HBM is unknown as of yet.

295x2.

It's relatively cheap, stays cool and quiet, and has very overclockable memory, which helps at 4k supposedly. Look at benchmarks from this year and you'll see that at 4k it's really not far behind 980 sli, and is easily better than a Fury X or 980 Ti.
