So i'm upgrading a PC and I'm changing the GPU and RAM because I only have 4gb but If I upgrade the GPU to the 970 My FX-8350 Will bottleneck it so I need to change the CPU and the MOBO and the RAM , so I was wondering if someone could put together a list of the most bare essential cpu and mobo to be able to run a 970 with no bottlenecks. I'm not looking to OC either. I said bare essentials because i'm trying to keep costs at a bare minimum also.

Most of my posts are very controversial, please try not to get butthurt.

I dont have a specific budget , All I need is a new mobo , cpu , and ram I would like to spend $80-$100 on the ram but everything else like I said , bare minimum to run a 970.

The FX8350 might bottleneck the 970 but honestly its hard to recommend paying loads of money out for an I5 and new motherboard

the performance difference will not be that huge

Example GTA with a 980 and a 8350 vs 4690k - does the I5 beat it? yes, but its only like 5-10 fps

More games - this time with a 970 as the GPU

I made a thread asking this and it was overwhelming EVERYONE said my 8350 would bottleneck anything higher then a 960

Maybe it will but not by a significant amount at least :-p

I'd still recommend switching over the Intel because of my "fanboyism" but I don't want anyone to spend more money if they don't want to.

well if you really wanna go for the best price/performance right now, i would suggest going for 390 instead. they are price the same, if not cheaper, with the 970. they perform better (25W more TDP, not sure). then if you really wanna change your CPU go for i5 4690K, i bet everyone says that. for the RAM just get a generic/cheapest 8GB RAM 1600Hz, coz if you are gaming that's all you need (more Hz means nothing when gaming, and 8GB is more than enough), just match the heat spreader to your build.

i am not telling you to change your decision i'm just advising that if you wanna get the same, if not better, performance on a lower price.

But, if you are still stuck on your 970, still i5 4690K is the best price/performance right now. RAM still just go with a generic/cheapest 8GB 1600Hz RAM with matching heat spreader to your build.

For Mobo, Asus Mark 1 or Msi Gaming 7 z97 are great.
