I'm upgrading from hd4000 to a 7950 boost. Do I uninstall the igpu driver before putting the card in? How would I do that? how do I disable the igpu and set the 7950 in the bios? (where is it in a Asus z77)

You don't have to - if you don't plan on using the IGP, remove the drivers. Most BIOSes have graphics output set to Auto. If you put your card in, plug your display cable into it, and start the system. It should output to the monitor.

I'm not even sure the motherboard requires the monitor be plugged into the graphics card.. I've heard of people with monitors plugged into the motherboard who couldn't figure out why they weren't getting any display output, because the motherboard was simply detecting a graphics card was installed. Some boards may behave differently, though.

I don't think the iGPU drivers are going to conflict with the AMD drivers, but for the sake of completeness you should be able to uninstall them from the Programs and Features control panel like any other application.
