Go to solution Solved by Prysin,

They may have been talking about spoofing your MAC address.

The MAC address is a unique identifier for network hardware and is used to track devices over different networks. I know you can spoof MAC addresses but I haven't looked into it.

spoofing MAC adresses isnt hard, its just annoying. I did it to circumvent a few server bans in the past. the programs i used are long since outdated and gone. It works for circumventing a ban, but a good server admin CAN actually see past it if he decides to dig hard enough and ping you with the right commands.

MAC adresses are on every piece of hardware, not just network....

If my memory serves me right, it stands for Machine Address Code.... litterally the internal address for your hardware.

EDIT:

you can use scramblers to litterally make anyone unable to read or ping your codes, unfortunatly, it can cause you to get auto banned without warning when visiting certain sites or playing games.

Hello,

I was looking at how to stay anonymous online, with Tor, VMs, proxys, VPNs, and all that.  But somewhere, I can't remember where, someone said you could/should get hardware that will help with staying anonymous.  I looked around and couldn't find anything.  Does anyone know what "anonymous hardware" means, is, or if it even exists?  Thanks in advance,

it's easy to look you up on Facebook, Twitter, yellow pages.... if people want to find you, no matter how well you try to hide. In todays society you cannot hide in populated areas. You either gotta live off grid, or not.

From what you mentioned I'm off the grid.  The point of this topic was about if hardware affected the capability of other people to trace things like my IP and other identifying data.
