Yes, I already have a pretty decent rig. That one is going to turn into my recording and video editing rig. Workstation if you will. I'll be picking up a capture device if I decide I want to take on the online media route. If not then I'll sell it to a family member. CPU: I chose a 4790k because it's currently the best option for gaming. 4 cores is the most a game can use, with a low heat output regardless of the 4ghz clock makes it amazing. The 5xxxK series offer no benefits. It also prevents the extra price on DDR4 which offers no gaming benefits. Let alone any real benefits. CPU Cooler: The performance of a liquid AIO cooler with one less noise device resulting in quieter operation. Comes with highly regarded and amazingly made Noctua fans. Motherboard: Could have literally gone with anything here. Even a mobo under $100. I chose this one for the on-board sound and added software features. In which most are not that great but some are very helpful. Memory: I literally don't even need more than 8gb of RAM. So why the hell did I go with 16gb? REASONS THAT DONT EXIST! (actually I always sit uncomfortably at the 6gb mark. This is more of a precaution when newer software comes out that I'm interested in running and shit) Storage: It's an SSD. Do I really need to explain anymore? Why don't I have an HDD combo or a lower cost saving SSD? I'm grabbing a network capable NAS drive for my media and back-ups. I often use airstream to watch video's on my phone but it's not that great and requires my PC to be on. (Will probably get a WD My Cloud EX2) And I want all my programs running off an SSD for efficiency. Multi tasking ease if you will. I'll probably never use more than 500gb so why the 1tb? Higher rated read and write cycles. Video Card: It's top of the line. Better than a Titan X. But why did I choose Asus over the others? Asus's OC comes pre-done at, very close, to the highest possible OC. I'm lazy so I don't want to bother with it. The 0db feature is also available. Case: It's a silent optimized case with the best airflow out of all the others. This allows me to run Noctua fans in super-low-noise mode and not have to worry about grabbing decent SP fans. Quieter as well. Power Supply: Overkill for this rig I know. I may do a dual GPU set-up in the future, most likely not. Some people may know that it's strong even for 2 GPU's. And that's because GPU power requirements change a lot. You never know when the next great cards use way more power. Operating System: Really? It's WIndows 10. The supposedly final version of windows to be released. Why not Pro instead of Home? Probably the dumbest question to exist. Pro comes with BitLocker, where most of the added cost comes from. It also has connection features meant for a working group environment and offers no benefits for me. Only longer update times and unneeded files.
