Materials needed/usable for changing thermal paste

I know I need the new thermal paste itself, microfiber cloth, and isopropyl alcohol. But if I didnt have the cloth and/or the isopropyl alcohol. What could I use as a suitable replacement?

Instead of a cloth you could use some toilet paper.

Cloth is better, as you won't have to do deal with lint. But toilet paper/paper towels would still work.

You can take a drive to a store and buy both. ;)

 

And if you're lucky, you may even to be able to get both in the same store!

Paper towels and soft touch. No soap, no water. Don't rub it too hard, paste will come of nice without any force.

Use coffee filters..they are lint free, and isopropyl alcohol.... use filters until it is clean...no residue. This will prep your cpu for TM....
