Hi Everyone,

I built my first gaming PC and the temps in my case seem pretty warm. I think the higher temps are primarily because of the restricted air flow of the case (H440) and I'd like to know what I can do to better cool things down. I tested my temps while playing Tomb Raider at max settings for about 30 minutes. My GPU (MSI 970) reached 74C and my CPU (4690k) reached about 72C. Temperature in the room was about 84F. Both CPU and GPU are at stock speeds. CPU is using the stock fan.

What would be the best option for cooling down my system?

Install aftermarket CPU cooler such as Hyper 212 EVO (btw - will this help blow heat from the GPU out of the case)

or

Install 2 or 3 top case fans as exhaust (Would I need a special type of fan since the top of the case only has side openings?)

GPU: MSI 970

CPU: 4690k (stock speeds/ fan)

Case: H440

those temps are fine, the gpu temp is good for load, the cpu temp is as expected with a stop cooler. if you want to over clock it then get a better cooler.

as for a cooling upgrade i would get a 2x120mm radiator all in one for the cpu and mount it as exhaust on the top

Not sure how much 2 exaust fans would help with  those side openings. 212 should help with exaust since all hot air from cpu would go straight to back fan leaving case with more cool air.

The GPU temps are totally normal. The CPU is running a bit hot, but within expected since it's using a stock cooler. Best investment in your case is a CPU cooler, airflow only does so much, i would recomend a cryorig h7 or a be quiet! Pure Rock for the hyper 212 evo price point and a thermalright macho if you can spend somewhere around 40-50 bucks

If your price point starts going higher, i recomend stepping up to dual rad AIO or a dual tower heatsink if you prefer to stay away from AIOs
