It'll take longer than getting from MHz to GHz but it's not unlikely. The only real reason that we haven't got closer, in my personal opinion, is that AMD hasn't been nipping at Intel's heels lately, forcing either company to come up with something more powerful. I would have expected that we'd be on 10 GHz CPUs by now if AMD was a much more competitive CPU than it currently is. (That being said, its GPUs are still decent, and as I understand it, the APUs are pretty good if you don't want a dedicated GPU in your system.)

THz may not be possible within a short span of technology advancement

 

if there is THz

 

it may mean the computer is faster than us = Skynet

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
