difference between native and max resolution on projector

Go to solution Solved by mr moose,

Um, no.

Native resolution is the physical resolution of your projector. This is how many pixels it projects.

The projector will take a range of resolutions at its input and then it scales them to the native resolution for projection. The maximum resolution is the highest resolution the scaler inside your projector can handle.

Your projector will look it's best when you send it a signal at it's native resolution, because it will not compress or distort the image to make it fit.

It has nothing to do with refresh rates.  In fact your projector is a DLP so it's refresh rate is dictated by the speed of the colour wheel and nothing else.

i have just noticed that the max resolution is higher than the native resolution on the projector i have just ordered, i was just wondering how this works and what resolution i should be running at when it arrives. thanks in advance threee6

native resolution = 60hz refresh rate

maximum resolution = lower refresh rate

Native resolution is just better for everything. Always use native resolution if not you the you ether lose detail (lower than native resolution) or you try to add extra detail that does not exist (higher than native resolution)
