What CPU would be good enough?

What processor would be good enough for a system that isn't made for gaming nor media editing.

Just browsing websites but still good enough to stream 1080p videos from YouTube.\

 

Edit: I don't think I'll be building this. I'm just wondering how cheap it could get.

Even a celeron would that job quite well, it has 2 cores, 2 threads and iGPU. Cheap and efficient.

Pretty much a pentium with integrated HD graphics. It has 2 cores that are fast enough, and Intel graphics, which are enough for 1080p video. The pentium G3258 is a good choice here.

I would say An AMD A8 or A10 APU. Good CPU, enough graphics for basic things like 1080p YouTube streaming, AND playing casual games.

Pretty much any modern cpu will be able to do that no problem. A cheapo AMD APU would be the best choice IMO, since the motherboards for those are usually cheaper as well.

I have a pentium right now on my laptop and it only plays 720p videos.

It's easier to recommend stuff for you if you give us a budget, and any parts that you may allready have. That way a lot of the guys here can give you a complete build recommandation that will suit your needs

not all of them do. there r some AM3+ Boards that have integrated graphics.

Well I'd wager that it is because the laptop's display is 720p. But regardless, a laptop cpu is significantly weaker than a desktop cpu.

Do they even make 720p displays? The lowest I've seen is 768p.

this is why i said an apu, he doesnt have to worry about a gpu then and even though its not for gaming, the a10-7850k would be ok for light gaming if he ever fancied it. medium settings on bf4 at around 40-50fps is not bad.
