So I'm getting 1-3 Savage SSDs for my birthday tomorrow, and I'm wondering how they perform in RAID, is the scaling good? How good does a single drive perform, I'm going from a single 5400rpm HDD to the HDD + these SSDs

I have to ask... why multiple SSD's? RAID 0 doesn't really make any difference on SSD's (I only did it for the space, not the speed). Its usually a better idea to just get a larger single drive.

But yes, RAID 0 will "be faster" than non RAID 0, that being said, I went from a Vertex 4 on SATA 2 to my RAID 0 830's on SATA III and couldn't tell a difference, and that was a 5x read increase....

Really? Not even over my 5400rpm? That's surprising

It's because I'm receiving them from individuals, I'm not buying them myself, and I doubt they would buy me 200$ SSDs

Hmm, I would recommend not putting the SSDs in RAID 0 (Of course RAID 0 would be faster...but you'd be playing with loaded gun using RAID 0 on so many drives). I would say give the individual SSDs a role, like one for the OS, one for programs, one for something else. You also lose TRIM when you build a RAID array with SSDs (In most cases), so expect performance degradation down the road.
