Windows 8.1 ISO

Go to solution Solved by sqzit,

Oh, incase anyone was wondering, I downloaded the iso from here: http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-8-1-download-iso-32-64-bit-free-official/

Not an official windows ISO, but it seems to be as close as I'm going to get. I can verify that the install and activation worked fine, and i have not had any issues to date.

I just bought a windows 8.1 product key from kinguin (OEM), and I can't find somewhere that I can download an official iso from Microsoft that i could make a bootable disk drive with and install windows. I know of various 3rd party websites that offer untouched ISOs for download, but I'm wondering if there is some janky place on Microsoft's website that is actually "official". Oh, also I can't use Microsoft's "create bootable media" tool to download it, because I'm on a mac and that program is windows only.

My issue is that I can't use any of the Microsoft download links mentioned in your guide because it downloads an .exe file that I can't use. Im guessing this .exe file is a program that can download the iso file and create bootable media with it. However since I'm running a mac, I can't install Microsoft's download tool. So I need a direct download of an iso. Is there no  "official" way to do this, through a legitimate Microsoft link?

I coullddd. But its kind of a hassle. I shouldn't need to have a pc to get my hands on a legitimate iso for windows ffs -.-

Just like how Apple does OSX deployments... lol

Microsoft has a Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 media creation tool. Download and run it, type in your key and it will then download the iso file. It will only download the iso based on that key, so if that key is actually for Win8, then you can only download win8 and then perform a upgrade to 8.1 from within the OS as it will not let you do a clean install of 8.1

You can't just buy a copy of OSX from a store, but you can do so with windows. So I expect to be able to download an official windows iso, but I don't expect apple to provide one of OSX, as they don't endorse installing OSX on computers that arn't made by apple.

The whole point of the post was that I wanted to know if there was an official iso from Microsoft. If I'm going to go use a torrented version, I might as well have not even bought windows and used windows loader to activate it.

Im not an Apple fanboy, it just annoys me that Microsoft advertises that they support installing windows on a mac, but they require you to have a windows PC to download an official iso from them.

No. They don't advertise that you can install OSX on a computer that isn't a mac. In fact, according to their terms of use, it is specifically prohibited. So no, I don't expect them to provide an ISO available to download.

Really? I had been using a cracked version of 8.1 since around the time 8.1 came out, before I purchased it the other day (I haven't had the money until recently. sry Microsoft lol). It always stayed activated for me. Must have been a different way of activating it that the guy who cracked it used. Im not overly savvy with how the various DRM workarounds function.

what the guy did in your case is just run the kms server in the background as a service..and every time you reboot the pc..it would reactivate it
