I did with my 7950. But XFX did a shit job.

I used what was basically repackaged MX-2 and saw an easy 5-10C drop in temps, honest to god.

After a year I swapped the paste on my Asus 660 ti and the temps dropped by about 3c idle and 2c full load.  If you think changes like this are worth it then do it, but removing the cooler will most likely void your warranty.

Unless the goop is really on the die(thick), dried up, or the amount is insufficient, replacing it probably won't do much. Of course, I could be wrong and you may experience something different.

No need to do so as you get the card, in 1-2 years however you may see some benefit.

where do i buy the thermal paste?

Newegg, Amazon, eBay, etc. PCParkPicker will give you most(if not all) the places you can buy a particular tube from.

I'm going to come right out and say this. After my experience in factory thermal "paste" after 4 years of 8+hour days/7 days a week, I'm not going to even let it go into my build without redoing it.

My Chipset started overheating and causing massive stutters in games after a few minutes of gameplay. The cause was the thermal past had really broken down and took a good deal of effort just to remove. I've had AS5 on my CPUs for years and it not be a PITA like that was. When I finally took the cooler off my i3 a couple weeks ago, it was pretty easy to clean up. Nothing like that crap from Asus.

No, I refuse to let anything get that bad again. If its paste, I don't trust it unless I apply my own coat of AS5. When I eventually get my R9 290, its not going to be installed before redoing the paste.
