So you want to change the actual mb for a new 775 one? Why?Cpu has nothing do to with ram compatibility no when it comes to form.So if you are wondering if the same cpu will work with dd3 well yes,it should

Yep, it supports both types of RAM so you just have to find a DDR2 board. The G41 chipset isn't bad and more than likely uses DDR2(my Gigabyte G41m-something did).

Well first aim for a mb and thet search for cpu support list for that specific mb no matter the ram type.If the mb is compatible with what cpu you have you are good to go

Just look for a board that says its DDR2, and if there is any doubt go to the manufactures webpage and search for that board to see its specifications. So like my board(Gigabyte G41M-ES2H), if i wanted to check to see if it was DDR2, I would look here: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3468#ov

Pretty easy, the majority of 775 boards were DDR2. Mostly late model and high end boards were DDR3.

for example

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2748#ov

Its right in the board specs for type of RAM. Just run the part number through google when you find a good deal.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.
